Email Benchmarking Report 2022

Every year we examine the state of email marketing by benchmarking its key metrics, allowing you to compare your campaigns against the market’s average.

The report, written in collaboration with the DMA Email Council, analyses data from a cross-section of the industry’s email service providers, offering an overview of email's key success metrics.

A key finding from this year's report is that after a challenging year in 2020, all email metrics increased in 2021.

The most notable year-on-year increase was the jump in click rate from 2.5% to just short of 3% in 2021.

Open and click-to-open rates both saw increases in 2021 - up to 19.7% and 13.2%, respectively.

However, this is also where a big change to the channel occurred in September 2021, with the introduction of Apple's Mail Privacy Protection.
