Legal and Policy Update

Following the election on July 4, the data and marketing industry will have many questions for the new government, in particular its approach to AI and reforming data protection legislation.

Join us, one week after the election for an insightful online event, including:

  • Chris Combemale, CEO, DMA who will lead a session the new government's plans and how the DMA will ensure the data protection regime promotes productivity, growth and innovation

  • Andrew Mills, Legal Director UK&I, Experian Marketing Services who will explore how the ruling establishes powerful case law in favour of legitimate interests as a lawful bases for third party data in direct marketing and the importance of proportionality to transparency requirements

Both Chris and Andrew will also explore the implications for marketers of the recent ICO case against Experian, in which the ICO's enforcement notice against was comprehensively overturned by the First Tier Tribunal and the ICO's appeal was comprehensively rejected by the Upper Tier Tribunal.
