What is day-to-day life like as a Social Media Manager what are the main responsibilities, and what skills do you need to excel?

We chatted to Izzy Soupe, Social Media Manager at TMW LIMITED, to shine light on what day-to-day life is like in her role.

Role Profile

As a social media manager it will be your role to create enganging content that can come in the form of original text, video content, enganging with followers through posts on social media platforms. The company image will be depicted in the way you decide to convey the goals of a company in a cohesive mannger. You'll be expected to be up to date with the latest social media trends and understand new digital technologies and media platforms which will be good to utilise in order to engage with different demographics.

Key responsibilities

  • Stay up to date with current technologies and new social media platforms

  • Set goals and benchmarks for audience engagement

  • Create a strategy which can be easily implemented and conveys the company goals

  • Track search engine optimisation and web traffic

  • Create reports on whether objectives have been met

  • Report on returns on investment

  • Liase with other departments of the company for example marketing, customer service to ensure that company goals have been met

  • Communicate with followers and ensure any questions or queries are responded to in good time

  • Monitor customer reviews and ensre that the best quality of service is received

Requirements

  • Good communication skills in dealing with customers

  • Solid knowledge of SEO and keyword research

  • Excellent creativity skills in order to create enganging content

  • Experieince in creating content management

  • Good knowledge of online marketing channles and best ways to utilise them

  • Be intuitive when trying to reach different demographic on marketing channels

  • Have Fantastic organisational skills as deadlines and projects pile up
