Apprenticeships
There are many ways to get into a career in marketing. Completing an apprenticeship is one of the possible routes. If you’re wondering what an apprenticeship is, in a nutshell, it’s a paid role where you learn as well as gain practical, valuable experience.
Apprenticeships are made up of 20% classroom based study. This is delivered by a college, university or training provider.
But here’s the main thing to know about apprenticeships, they offer excellent practical training. Why? Because you spend 80% of your time doing on the job training. This gives you real world experience and the chance to work in your chosen role to see what it’s like.
Each apprenticeship will align with a ‘Standard’, which is an agreed training route for the role where you can also study for a qualification. There are different apprenticeship levels you can complete which enable you to obtain various qualification levels.
Apprenticeship level | Education equivalent |
|---|---|
2 | GCSE |
3 | A Level/T Level |
4-7 | Foundation degree or above |
6-7 | Bachelor or Master's degree |
Whilst completing an apprenticeship you’ll be in paid employment (which includes holiday leave). You’ll also complete a formal assessment and if successful, obtain a nationally recognised qualification. Whilst completing your practical training, you’ll also get the chance to meet and build relationships with industry experts.
Apprenticeships are for anyone in England over the age of 16 who is not in full-time education. People do apprenticeships for many reasons. Whether you’re looking to kickstart your career or upskill in a new area, this route can help you get where you want to be.
There isn’t one place where you can apply for apprenticeships. But there are a few sites that feature some that are available . You can also check out apprenticeships that are advertised on employer’s websites and general career and employment sites.
