Mailing Houses Council

The Mailing House Council represents the interests of the mailing houses and suppliers to the direct mail industry. It aims to ensure the ethical behaviour, environmental responsibility of members, to maintain effective relationships, resist unreasonable legislation and restrictions on trade and to promote the direct mail channel.

 John Ellis John Ellis, Sunline Direct Mail Ltd John started out as an apprentice at Derby-based direct mail printers Reelform Ltd, aged just 16. Over his 13 years there, he went from compositor, to studio manager, IT manager, DM manager and eventually DM manager. At Cavalier Mailing he helped develop its business and double its turnover. Since joining Sunline, he has risen from general manager to sales director.

  Howard Matthews, Loricas Solutions Ltd With over 30 years’ experience in the direct mail industry, Howard’s knowledge and involvement on the Mailing Houses Council is of great benefit to members. He is chief executive of printing, direct mail and fulfilment experts Loricas Solutions ltd, and a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum and the Institute of Directors.

  Miles Berry, Prospect Mailing Services Ltd Miles has been in the industry for half of his 50 years, and was a founding committee member of the original DMA North. His company is typical of the 2nd tier of mailing operations and he therefore feels well-placed to offer a balanced view in contributing to Council discussions.
  Malcolm Black, Mediascene Ltd Having started a Direct Marketing career in publishing and print, Malcolm founded Mediascene in 1984. He has overseen the company’s growth in the fields of data management, response management, and mailing.
  Daniel Brock, Business Continuity Ltd Danny has been in the Mailing and Printing industry for over 30 years holding a number of senior positions. Danny has strongly supported the industry its quest for greater professionalism and recognition by the media owners of the important role the Mailing Houses play in the post production process.
  Mark Buckingham, Banner Managed Communication Mark’s remit is to produce and deliver a “best in class” operation to all internal customers and external clients. He has worked with all aspects of direct mail and transactional mail as well as various postal / courier service providers.
  Jim Bulmer, Royal Mail Jim’s background includes roles across the operational, sales and marketing areas of Royal Mail, with external experience working with the boards of larger mail order and telecommunications companies. 
  Dathan Burden, DP Direct Ltd With more than 20 years experience with the Direct Marketing industry working for agency, mailing house, data and web companies, Dathan has a broad understanding of all areas of direct marketing. He is keen to promote best practice within the industry. 
  Alistair Ezzy, GI Insight Alistair has worked in the print and mailing sector since arriving in England in 1988 and has seen the market grow and develop over that period. He has held senior positions in sales and marketing and operations which have encompassed both the direct marketing and transactional mailing sectors. 
  Gary Hazlehurst, FCS Laser Mail Gary has over 15 years experience of the mailing industry and he is happy to share that knowledge for the greater good by playing an active role in the Mailing Houses Council. 
  Lance Hill, 4DM Group Lance has over 20 years experience in the print and direct mail sector where he has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has a strong reputation with clients as an innovative thinker and source of technical know-how.
  Kerry Holden, The Mailbird Organisation Ltd Kerry feels it is vital that the smaller mailing houses have a voice within the industry. He helps present a different perspective to that of the larger organisations on the Council and applies his knowledge of the industry to help secure the future of it.
  Peter Stockton, Communisis Peter has a wealth of knowledge, expertise and practical experience of both the Post and Print industry - having worked at Communisis for over 25 years, most recently in the roles of Group Production Director of the direct mail operations and also as the Group's Mail Solutions Director for both Transactional print and Direct Mail.
  Jennifer Ainger, BTB Mailflight 
  Steve Morton, Orbital Mailing  Head of business development at Orbital Mailing Steve believes the sector is evolving and targeted direct mail faces real challenges in these coming years, not just economical but also from a host of existing and emerging mediums. He would like to think that with his rounded frontline sales experience he can be one of those who can help show that direct mail is still a vital and integral business tool.
