Email Marketing Council

The Email Marketing Council seeks to champion email as an essential part of the greater marketing mix and an effective direct marketing channel by producing and disseminating best practice guidance, research, case studies, data-driven reports and organising events for the membership.

Skip Fidura

Skip Fidura, dotAgency Managing director of dotAgency and group digital director to the dotDigital Group, Skip has been in marketing for over 15 years. He has worked in contact centres, direct marketing, customer analysis, and digital marketing. Most recently Skip was Email Partner at OgilvyOne London and prior to that he was the director of European operations for Acxiom Digital.

James Bunting, Communicator Corp As Managing Director and co-founder of Communicator Corp, James believes strongly in the power of email within an integrated communications strategy.  James’s passion is email, he loves helping people learn about the channel and developing their results over time.  Having been an advocate of email since the 1990’s James is regularly asked to speak and contribute to industry debate and is a guest speaker for the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM), lecturing on their Email Marketing Award.  



Richard Gibson

Richard Gibson, Return Path As channel relationship manager, Richard works with channel partners, predominately email technology providers. He is a long-standing member of the Email Marketing Council, with a passion for research, metrics and measurement. Prior to joining Return Path, he was commercial director for RSA Direct and has many years’ direct and interactive marketing experience.

Simon Hill, Extravision Ltd Simon is the co-founder of Extravision, a privately owned ESP based in Manchester and has been involved in email marketing for over 14 yrs. He was the principle engineer involved in developing Extravision’s own email platform has seen first-hand how email marketing has transformed over the past decade. These days his focus is on deliverability and helping clients develop better email marketing practices. Simon joined the council's best practice and legal hub in May 2010.


Guillaume Lache, MailPerformance UK With over six years experience as a deliverability analyst for a major ESP, Guillaume has an educated analysis of the problematics. A proud member of the DMA Email Marketing Councils best practice hub, he was elected to the Council in 2013.  

Fiona Robson, Rocketseed As MD of Rocketseed, Fiona is a strong advocate for maximising the marketing and data opportunities from email media, as well as from email marketing. Email media is about transforming regular employee email into a marketing platform & gaining business insights through email analytics.  Fiona has over 15 years’ experience in sales & marketing plus ecommerce roles, and speaks regularly at seminars and industry events.


Timothy Roe, RedEye As head of deliverability and data segmentation, Tim’s current focus is the development and use of online engagement segmentation to optimise and improve clients ROI from email. Tim has spoken at a number of seminars and industry events such as the IDMF and Ad Tec. He joined the council's best practice and legal hub in March 2010.

Tim Watson

Tim Watson, Zettasphere Ltd Email marketing consultant, Tim works with brand marketers providing strategic guidance, advising how to increase return from the email marketing channel. He chairs the Legal & Best Practice hub, responsible for the DMA's email marketing white paper and best practice publications. Tim is a regular blogger and speaker on emerging trends in email marketing and expert commentator on the smart insights websites.

Anthony Wilkey, SmartFocus  Anthony has worked in the fields of CRM and marketing intelligence for over 10 years, spending the last three and a half years with SmartFocus following time at Experian, Sage and Frost & Sullivan. He has extensive experience of working on collaborative digital ventures and a range of often multi-national client projects and currently works as the Regional Director for Account Management across Northern Europe.

Matt Simons, Matt was co-opted to the Council in 2013, his experience includes roles at Havas EHS and Acxiom. Matt is an active member on the Councils benchmarking hub. 

  Sophie Armitage, Experian Data Quality As the Trainer for Strategic Initiatives at Experian, Sophie's background is dealing with Email Address Validation. Seen to be an upcoming expert in the email marketing field. Sophie was co-opted into the DMA Rising Stars Programme and joined the DMA Email Marketing Council in March 2014. g Stars Programme and joined the DMA Email Marketing Council in March 2014.

 Phillip Storey

Philip Storey, Lyris Philip Storey is Global Head of Strategic Services at Lyris, London. Philip has specialised in Email Marketing and Conversion Optimisation for 12 years, helping over 200 leading brands to develop meaningful relationships with prospects and customers in the inbox, creating engaging email marketing strategies for acquisition and retention that drive a high return on investment.

Beth Curtis-Clark, is the Client Strategy Director at SmartFocus and has worked with clients such as Selfridges, French Connection and Whistles to develop effective omni-channel marketing campaigns. Her role is across departments at SmartFocus, ensuring that the converstaions with and around retail, are as productive as possible. With her experience in digital marketing and passion for helping clients achieve success, Beth has earned a reputation as an expert in retail eCommerce.
