We are also keen to receive input from others, particularly with regards to alternative actions for dealing with issues we identify, and to suggest other issues we should be concerned about. We want to stimulate debate and encourage the sharing of views.
DATA GOVERNANCE
Our purpose is to provide practical advice and guidance on the best use of data in marketing. Data Governance covers decision making and authority including best practice for data matters in particular relating to data security, data quality and regulatory compliance. Our key goals for 2010 are to identify and fill gaps in best practice with particular focus on data security and the environment.

FUTURE PROOFING
Our objective is to identify key issues facing the direct marketing industry over the next three years from a data perspective, prioritise them in terms of importance and potential impact and agree actions that could be taken to influence outcomes and mitigate risk. We have created an online Risk Register that summarises these key issues and the actions that are being taken on them.

RESEARCH AND BENCHMARKING
Collating useful market information and data benchmarking statistics. Giving members access to our free-to-use data governance benchmarking service www.datameasures.com.

COMMUNICATIONS
This working party is focused on two key areas: PR and the DMA Data Council microsite. With an aim to provide website visitors greater value, there's an ongoing programme of content development including best practice, how-to guides and case studies, together with regular feedback on progress from all of the Data Council Working Parties.
