Twitter has announced the launch of a web analytics tool to help brands and marketers know exactly how much traffic the micro-blogging site is driving to their websites.
Twitter Web Analytics will help website owners measure the amount of traffic from Twitter and the effectiveness of Twitter integrations on their websites.
In a blog post introducing the new web analytics tool, Christopher Golda a member of Twitter’s product team said: “People have struggled to accurately measure the amount of traffic Twitter is sending to their websites, in part because web analytics software hasn’t evolved as quickly as online sharing and social signals.”
Twitter Web Analytics is an effort to solve this problem. The new tool will be rolled out this week to a small pilot group of partners and will be available to all website owners within a few weeks.
Christopher also hinted of more developer tools. “We’re also committed to releasing a Twitter Web Analytics API for developers looking to incorporate Twitter data in their products.” However, he didn’t say when such a tool might arrive.
