Social media use by top firms on the rise

Fortune 500 companies have a huge social media presence – 58% of them have an active corporate Facebook account and 62% an active Twitter account.
Coca-Cola has the most ‘Likes’ on Facebook, with 40m (by February 2012). Starbuck comes second with just under 29m. The data appears in an infographic compiled by Go-Gulf.com.
Google has the most Twitter followers (4,350,098), up 23% since September 2011.
Blogging appears to be less important in the Fortune 500. Less than a quarter (23%) of them has a public-facing corporate blog, compared to 37% of INC 500 ones (fastest growing companies).
Specialist retailers are the most prolific bloggers, closely followed by computer software/office equipment firms. Insurance and IT firms had the lowest number of blogs.
