David Metcalfe, the former chair of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), has joined an elite list of direct marketing industry luminaries following his election to the DMA’s Roll of Honour.
The DMA Board elected Metcalfe to the Roll of Honour in recognition of his outstanding leadership in successfully steering the DMA through a two-year phase of transition to upgrade the organisation to continue to meet the changing needs of its members and to provide leadership for the industry.
Metcalfe, the regulated change delivery lead for Lloyds Bank Wholesale Banking and Markets, served as chair of the DMA for two years, stepping down from office in January 2011. Metcalfe was succeeded by Scott Logie, strategic marketing director of St Ives Group.
Logie presented Metcalfe with a framed certificate before an audience of 100 representatives of the DMA’s 15 regional and special-interest councils. Addressing the audience, Logie thanked the former chair for his contribution:
“I want to thank David for leaving the DMA in such a strong position to meet the dynamic challenges of serving the needs of the 21st Century direct marketing industry. It’s due to the foundations that David laid that we’ve made great progress in strengthening our representation of the digital sectors, as well as the level of service we offer our members. His place on the DMA Roll of Honour is truly deserved.”
“It’s humbling to join the list of great names that have previously been elected to the Roll of Honour. This honour should be shared with every member of the DMA’s board, councils and staff whose support, dedication and hard graft really made the transformation possible. It’s great to see how well the DMA is doing now and the positive trajectory that is being built upon. The DMA is in good hands.”
