Instant mobile checkout, Simply Tap is live. It allows customers to buy direct from retailers’ marketing websites and buyer guides through their smartphones.
The first brands to integrate Mobile Money Network’s (MMN) mobile checkout include Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy Europe, Thorntons and Goldsmiths.
Buyers will be able to buy a product without going through an ordering process or filling in a form. They’ll simply use codes seen in ads, in-store and on websites to make their purchase. Simply Tap users will have to go through a one-off registration process first to provide card and delivery details before they can start using the service.
A nationwide marketing campaign on social media channels and digital banners will promote the launch and MMN is offering consumers £10 cashback on their first purchase.
Andrew Harrison, CEO of Best Buy Europe and Carphone Warehouse said: “Simply Tap will provide retailers with compelling new options when it comes to marketing and selling products. For our customers, it has to be all about convenience. Customers want to be able to pay for goods via any device and on any network.”
John Milliken, MD of The Mobile Money Network, added: “We expect to learn an enormous amount about how consumers want to use their mobiles to shop. We are already developing the second version of the app where you can expect to see image recognition as a major feature.”
