Preference Services

The DMA's Preference Services enable businesses to register their wish to opt out of receiving unsolicited telephone calls, and consumers to register their wish to opt out of receiving unsolicited messages by mail, telephone, fax or email.
Organisations are obliged either by law or by codes of practice to ensure that these wishes are adhered to. For full information on each service and registration details simply click on the appropriate logo.



The Mailing Preference Service allows consumers to register their wish not to receive unsolicited direct mail.

Baby MPS is a service which allows parents who have suffered a miscarriage or bereavement of a baby in the first weeks of life to register their wish not to receive baby related mailings.

The Telephone Preference Service allows businesses and consumers to register their telephone numbers in order to not receive unsolicited sales and marketing calls.

Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) is the central opt out register whereby corporate subscribers can register their wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to either all their organisation's telephone numbers, or to certain numbers. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the CTPS.

The Fax Preference Service allows consumers and businesses to register their home or business fax number not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing faxes.

The Email Preference Service is a global service managed by the DMA in the States which allows you to register your email address so as not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing email messages.

Since December 2003, UK law (EU Privacy and Electronic Comms Dir) changed so that EMPS only needs to be used for email campaigns sent outside the European Union.
