To develop and maintain a positive consumer attitude towards direct marketing by educating consumers about
the benefits of direct marketing, addressing commonly held myths about specific dm mediums and issues such
as data protection. This is achieved through national and regional newspaper articles and consumer advice
columns; national and local radio and TV interviews; information leaflets distributed via Citizens Advice
Bureaux and other relevant public information points.
To inform and keep DMA members and the wider industry up to date on the key issues and legislation affecting
the dm industry. This is achieved by developing strong trade press relations across the UK and EU; issuing
regular press releases on key industry topics, legislation and research; facilitating media interviews with
DMA and industry spokespeople; the Weekly DMA Bulletin and ongoing liaison with DMA Councils.
The PR Department is the first point of contact for any media and general PR enquiries and is also responsible
for providing advice to the DMA Councils and DMA management with regard to policy decisions, courses of
action and communication; promotion of the dm industry's biggest awards programme - the DMA Awards in
association with Royal Mail; anticipating, analysing and interpreting public opinion, attitudes and issues
that may affect the DMA and the wider dm industry.
Within the
News & Press Information section you will find the most recent DMA press releases that provide a good
overview of our main activities.
The Press spokespeople section includes photographs and biographies of the key DMA spokespeople.
DMA members receive the DMA Weekly Bulletin every Monday, providing an industry update on the latest issues.
Press contacts can be sent the Weekly Bulletin on request.
