DMA members are invited to submit legal queries and questions concerning campaign copy to the legal team. As well as legal advice, the department offers advice on compliance with the CAP Code and other best practice guidelines and codes of practice. Advice is free and responses are often turned around within 24 hours.
DMA members are kept abreast of all legal developments via the DMA Weekly Bulletin and the monthly Legal and Public Affairs Newsletter.
As well as providing legal advice and undertaking lobbying activity, the legal department represents the direct marketing industry on the Committee of Advertising Practice and inputs into the drafting of the British Code of Advertising, Direct Marketing and Sales Promotion.
The department also works with the DMA Councils and specialist working parties to draft codes of practice and best practice guidelines.
